Make example of drivers who use mobiles on the move

Royal Marines and sailors from HMS Bulwark Royal Marines squadron gathered on Eastney Beachin June 2016 for a poignant commemoration of the loss of landing craft during the 1982 Falklands Conflict

LETTER OF THE DAY: Hole in our armed forces budget needs closing

Have your say

The other day I was driving behind someone who was clearly on their mobile phone.

They were swerving all over the road and it made me feel quite sick.

It must be scary enough for a motorist who’s been driving for years, let alone a mere learner like me.

Do these people think they’ll never hurt anyone doing it? The truth is they could end up maiming or killing someone.

Think about this. If you were on a plane, would you be happy to see the pilot concentrating on his phone whilst attempting to land?

We should be making an example of these numpties who drive while using a phone.

Penalise them heavily, otherwise they just aren’t going to learn.
