Missing the thrills of the boat show is a big disappointment

CLIVE SMITH: Third World War fears from the internet generation

Have your say

Oh how the other half live!

I haven’t managed to get to the PSP Southampton Boat Show yet this year, and I’m quite sad about that.

I love seeing the multi-million pound boats, trying to work out how I’d even begin to afford something like that (must start playing the lottery), and wondering whether anyone would notice if I stowed away on board.

I think it’s something to do with being brought up surrounded by water and having holidays involving ships – usually cross-Channel ferries.

People over a certain age will understand when I say the boat show makes me pretend I’m in Howard’s Way, complete with theme tune.

People being able to afford such things can only be good for our economy, so I hope it’s around for a long time yet.
