My F-reg Nova Sprint opened up a world of possibilities

CLIVE SMITH: Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn about Valentine’s Day

Have your say

What a life-changing day October 15, 1990 was for me. That’s the day I passed my driving test and I’ve realised that I’ve now been driving for over half my life!

I learned to drive in an F-reg Vauxhall Nova 1.2 Sprint. Boy, I loved that car, it was a million miles better than my mum’s Skoda Super Estelle 120.

I can still feel the euphoria of the day I passed. The world seemed to open up for me and anything seemed possible.

All these years later, I simply cannot imagine how restricting life would be without being able to get in the car and go off anywhere I please.

I could live without the telly, laptop or mobile phone, but certainly not my car.
