My tax return’s done and the sense of relief is phenomenal

COMMENT: All agencies must to held to account for Anne Savidge’s tragic death

Have your say

I’m feeling smug because I’ve completed my tax return online with time to spare.

I don’t know if the system has changed this year and it’s been made easier, or if it’s my super new laptop which doesn’t debate which website I want to get to and just does as it’s told.

Or maybe it’s because I wrote my HMRC passwords down and left them in a ‘safe’ place last year. This meant I couldn’t find them then, but guaranteed that they would eventually turn up in time for this year.

Whatever it is, I feel really pleased. Anybody who has to go through this process will know that the sense of relief about getting it out of the way is phenomenal.

Does this mean I’ll crack on and get it done early again next time? No promises...
