ZELLA COMPTON: Looking afresh at our beautiful spot in the world

Have your say

We’re a strange nation. Isn’t it funny how we still celebrate Guy Fawkes Night over 400 years after he tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament?

But will the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Day slowly replace it?

Walking down to the shoreline at Priddy’s Hard to watch fireworks go off over Portsmouth and Portchester over the years has been one of our favourite pastimes.

The amount of fireworks let off at this year’s New Year’s Eve celebrations far outweighed those seen on November 5.

As cities across the world try to out-do each other, I’m sure these displays will become even bigger over time. Great news for dog owners!
