Next time I think we’ll camp out in our own back garden

Have your say

Camping is supposed to be the ultimate cheap holiday, isn’t it?

Well I’ve got no idea why people think that as year after year we spend more and more just so that we can go on our ‘cheap’ holiday under canvas.

This time we’ve shelled out loads in order to save space, buying everything in shrunken size and then some more.

Tents fold up no bigger than my handbag, which is great in theory.

But I bet we’ll still be jammed with stuff as space-saving measures mean that we’ll simply take more of something else instead.

After the gas refill bottles, three new holdalls and the cost of the petrol to get us there and back, I’m leaning towards a staycation next time – camping in my own back garden.
