I always got the impression that Americans were invading Britain, with their coffees, their burgers, their music and their films.

But it seems we’re doing just the same.

On Friday in Manhattan, One Direction were performing a free concert and, no word of a lie, the teenagers started queuing up to see them on Wednesday morning.

Not only that, but take a trip into the shopping district and you’ll find British brands like the Body Shop and Burberry. And, one of the best things, I even managed to find a decent cup of tea. My grandmother would have been proud.

Upon hearing the accent, people have asked where in the UK we’re from – and we even found fellow Pompey fans in a Central Park restaurant. Small world.
