One of my favourite pastimes is eavesdropping in queues. People say the oddest things – and, now it turns out, the most frightening things.
Imagine my horror at hearing teenage girls in the Chinese takeaway line discussing the fact that one of their mothers was giving her daughter her credit card to take on a Saturday shopping trip.
I thought that kind of thing only happened in American TV shows (and not very good ones at that).
But no, it turns out that it’s all going on here in good old Gosport.
Please to goodness, don’t let this be a widespread habit which I wasn’t aware of, as I still shake every time I put money on mine and I can’t imagine letting it go out unsupervised.
