Packing up and closing door for last time felt so surreal

I know people move all the time, but I think it’s surreal when you pack your life into boxes and close the door on a home that you’ve made memories in for more than eight years.

Perhaps I’m just being dramatic, but I wonder if other people feel like this when they move?

I confess that I blubbed like a baby when the time came for us to leave our little place.

In the end, my husband Matt had to tell me to ‘man up’ and get a grip.

You see, I genuinely didn’t want to leave.

I guess it feels stranger for us because were not going straight into our next home.

As we haven’t signed everything and got the keys for another house yet, we’re having to move into my auntie’s for a couple of months.

In fact we’ve moved into my mum’s for a couple of weeks before we move into my auntie’s because my mum is going on holiday and we thought we’d make the most of a vacant property!

The problem was I was asked to do some last-minute filming by a TV production company, so had to move to my mum’s a day earlier than originally planned.

I turned up with two cars full of our belongings, plus camera equipment and with my hubby in tow and my mum, bless her, had all her suitcases already packed to go on holiday.

So as well as getting ready to go away, she had to deal with my emotions. Sorry mum.

I’m so sad to have left our home, but I know deep down it’s the right decision.

Unfortunately the house is just too small to stay in.

It’s certainly not big enough if we start a family, so we’ve made a difficult decision and now we have to stick with it.

But it doesn’t mean I can’t moan, does it?

Onwards and upwards, as they say.

The place we’ve bought is a lovely bungalow in Clanfield. When we finally get the keys and move in, I just hope this sleepy place is ready for us!

SO PLEASED LEWIS HAS MADE A FULL RECOVERY AFTER ACCIDENT

I was in Worthing this week, filming with a kitesurfer called Lewis Crathern.

You may have heard of him as he’s a professional known all around the world for his skills on the water.

He also made the national news recently because of the near-fatal accident he had while taking part in a Red Bull kitesurfing competition in South Africa.

Lewis apparently attempted a mega loop on a huge wave and, after stalling 50ft in the air, crashed so badly he had to be put in a medically-induced coma.

Thankfully he’s made a full recovery and it was really lovely to meet him and his family.

It just goes to show that you really do have to live life to the full as you never know what’s around the corner.

MY BROTHER-IN-LAW STILL HAS NO IDEA IT WAS A BOUGHT CAKE

My brother-in-law Shaun turns 30 today and we had his ’90s fancy dress party last weekend to celebrate.

It was such a good evening, made all the better by seeing our family DJ Funkenstein, who kept the tunes going all night long.

Shaun challenged me to make him a cake in the style of a Stone Roses album cover and I accepted.

I didn’t have time to bake a cake as we were moving that day, so I bought one from Asda and decorated it.

Well, it was an absolute mess and I was so embarrassed by it I almost didn’t give it to him.

But in the end I did and he was polite about it despite not being overly keen to eat some, ha ha.

He still doesn’t know it was a bought cake!
