I’ve been enjoying the ongoing saga of the Mayor of Toronto, Rob Ford.
From a distance it is hugely entertaining to watch a city battle its mayor – and watch the mayor fight back, trying to stay in power after reportedly admitting to smoking crack cocaine while drunk.
He’s been stripped of much of his power, but apparently he can’t be sacked from his role.
A vote by Toronto’s city council gives many of Mr Ford’s powers to his deputy, Norm Kelly, but he remains in post and has refused to resign, saying he will seek re-election next year.
There’s a small piece of me that hopes he manages to hang on in there and keeps working for the people who elected him.
After all, I’m British and I love an underdog.
