Last Sunday we went to the White Hart at Denmead to meet our family taxi driver – Phil – and his family who were celebrating his 60th birthday.
Phil asked the Gibbs lot to go because, in his words, ‘you’re my second family’, which I thought was rather sweet.
Some people don’t quite get the way we are – after all who else goes out to celebrate their taxi driver’s birthday? But there again I think we’re a unique bunch of people.
I think Phil feels like this because despite the fact he is our taxi driver, he’s also someone the family look out for – like plating up meals for him or inviting him to our wedding reception.
Family and friends come in all shapes and sizes and I hope Phil had a very special 60th birthday.
