Prince Harry is the biggest threat to the monarchy since the abdication | Rick Jackson

I am far from being a republican, but for me Prince Harry’s actions are the biggest risk to the constitution since the abdication of King Edward VIII in 1936.

This is more severe than how the monarchy handled the death of Diana, The Princess of Wales in 1997.

All the good work with William and Harry, Prince Charles’ settled lifestyle and the public acceptance of Camilla, the Royal Family were in a good place.

There are very turbulent times ahead.

The storm clouds that gather over Prince Andrew will not go away; no matter how low a profile he keeps.

Luckily for him, Prince Harry’s ‘abdication’ has taken the heat off his situation somewhat.

As long as the Queen continues to reign, all will be well for the royals. I can’t think of a time in my lifetime where she hasn’t been loved and respected by so many.

But that can’t last forever.

The monarchy will have to change and for me. I can’t see countries like Australia and Canada having Prince Charles as their head of state.

With Harry and Meghan’s announcement of a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, 2021 is turning into a real-life series of the Netflix drama, The Crown.

This feels like a betrayal to many British people.

The prince many adored, forgave for his weaknesses and delighted in his triumphs, seems to be selling his life story to the highest bidder.

Some people must be rubbing their hands together in glee as the prospect of a new interview.

All this damaging exposure to the foibles of the Royal Family could undermine their reputations not only in the UK, but the Commonwealth and the world as a whole.

The partnership expected to be the kingpin of the future for our monarchy – Prince William and Harry – could turn out to be the one final disaster that destroys it.

I wish Harry and his family well.

I understand that royal life might not be for everyone so the British public have accepted your departure.

Now please, keep your mouth shut.

Football needs transparent referees like those in Rugby

Football needs to learn from rugby.

Rugby has had TMOs (Television Match Officials) for a while now and it works very successfully. For many, it has enhanced the game and the drama.

Football is seeing VARs (Video Assistant Referees) take the joy out of scoring and keeps viewers in the dark over decisions.

The FA, UEFA and FIFA need to help the referee. As in rugby, fit them with microphones so we can all hear the conversations and how decisions are made and how they are explained to the players. Show the footage on the big screens at stadiums and broadcast the referee’s microphone. Then players and fans will respect the decisions and the refs more.

Sea shanties are all the craze in the charts thanks to TikTok

Who would have thought social media platform, TikTok, would have made the sea shanty fashionable – but it has.

A young Scottish postman has been posting short videos of him singing shanties and is now it’s the second biggest selling single of 2021 so far.

Nathan Evans’ version of Wellerman stands at number two in the UK Top 40 singles chart – a song which originates from the 1860s!

On our breakfast show, our favourite sea shanty is Bellowhead’s version of Gosport Nancy.

Maybe now is the perfect time for Bellowhead to re-release Gosport Nancy and get it to the top of the music charts?
