RICK JACKSON: Why aren't we on the streets protesting about Brexit?

Why are we not on the streets demanding another referendum to end this Brexit madness?

The government and media are acting as if Brexit was the will of all the people. Far from it.

Let’s not forget, the vote was so close and many people who voted leave did so not thinking they’d actually win and would probably vote differently if there were a second referendum.

It seems others who voted to leave did so through ignorance on immigration or how millions would be saved and pumped into the NHS.

Good grief, is no one else slightly panicked by how badly this is going? Politicians behaving like they are in a showdown in a Spaghetti Western, eyeing each other up in the corner of a room.

I wonder, if there was another referendum today, how the vote would go? Very differently I reckon.

What gets me is how being anti-Brexit is now so uncool. We cannot challenge the fact that it’s looking more and more like a bad thing for all of us.

Mark Carney, the head of the Bank of England said recently conditions were very, very good in the UK at the moment and that our economy should be flying, but it isn’t, thanks to Brexit.

I really want to hear some good news, how the US and China are ready to sign mega-billion dollar deals with us, but that’s all gone very quiet.

Before the referendum we were the second biggest economy in Europe and the fifth in the world and our growth was the best in Europe.

We were doing very, very well. Now we’ve slipped below the French and our worldwide rating is also slipping.

I really think the media and the public should start challenging Brexit.

If our government is struggling to get over the first of many hurdles, how are things going to be in two years?

Will there ever be any light at the end of the Channel Tunnel?

THE MAGIC OF CHRISTMAS MEANS JUST ONE THING FOR ME – SLEEP

We can’t wait until Christmas. Not for the festivities, but the lie-ins! I have the week off and it is desperately needed.

We did manage to get away for a couple of weeks in the summer, but as we were self-catering, with a three and a one-year-old, any holiday is just a lie-in with heat for me!

It’s been a long, hard year and this month for me has been silly season, with plenty of events to host, coupled with illness of not only me, but my kids.

So 10am on Christmas Day morning, when my last radio show of the year is broadcast, cannot come soon enough.

Am I sounding a bit ‘Bah humbug’ already?

That’s what tiredness does to you!

WE HAD A GRANDER HONEYMOON THAN THE QUEEN

I really enjoyed the documentary on the Queen and Prince Philip this week as they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

What an amazing couple. It seems the secret to their happiness is humour.

I loved some of the stories about how Philip has made her laugh over the years.

From her nickname ‘Cabbage’ to her supposed support for Arsenal Football Club, I’m fascinated by what their life is like behind closed doors.

As Sarah and I enjoyed a 17-night cruise around the Med for our honeymoon, I was amused to hear the Queen and Prince Philip spent theirs at Romsey, at Broadlands.

Oh, how the other half live. You’d have thought her dad might have loaned them the royal yacht wouldn’t you!
