Instead of scoffing scrumptuous hot cross buns on Good Friday morning, Jemima Jalopy (my motor) and myself were tootling off to North End.
Agatha Flon Flon de Gusset had given me the tip-off the day before that there was a little spin dryer in the British Heart Foundation shop on the corner of Stubbington Avenue.
Driving there, I was telling Jemima: ‘I can’t believe I’ve just broken a second spin dryer in six years. I’m so clumsy.’
Jim, the assistant manager, had my £15, excellent condition spin dryer ready for me.
What a bargain. Folks, the shop is an Aladdin’s Cave of very reasonably-priced new and nearly-new furniture and electrical goods.
You can save a few bob and help raise funds for the British Heart Foundation. You can’t say fairer than that, can you?
