Just in case we happened to forget there’s a general election on the distant horizon, Justice Secretary Chris Grayling has come up with a timely reminder.
He has begun to blather on about ‘a tough new approach to law and order.’
You could be forgiven for yawning and moving on, because this is the sort of schtick Tories always resort to when they want to win back some of the support they’ve lost from Middle England.
But I reckon Grayling knows he hasn’t a hope of succeeding.
Talk tough and act soft is the Tory credo these days (look at Michael Gove) and prisoners may rest assured that, in the unlikely event of a Conservative victory in 2015, their access to Sky TV will remain unaffected.
