As a journalist, you generally have to trust what the police tell you in their official releases.
So when they say a young boy with a life-threatening condition has been taken from hospital and might die, you write exactly that.
But watching the Ashya King drama unfold, my mind was boggled by the actions taken by Southampton General Hospital, Hampshire Constabulary and Portsmouth City Council.
Thank goodness for social media and a free press that highlighted the other side of the story as soon as it emerged.
And shame on the police and the hospital for what has now turned into a blame game. I hope Ashya gets his treatment and he is never prevented from being with his mummy and daddy again.
