Shopping is stressful enough without having to do maths

Have your say

Eek. I was out shopping the other day and came across a shop selling clothes with the heart-shuddering +VAT written on the tag.

Prices without taxes used to haunt me when we lived in Canada as you had to calculate state and provincial tax in the aisles.

Woe betide you if you were in another province and didn’t know what the going rate was. Some may argue that a quick bit of maths to check your bargains is good for the mind.

But as I find the whole clothes shop thing so stressful anyway, I’m not going to buy into that theory.

Maybe the solution is to only buy stuff in the 99p Store in future.

That way I know I only have one price to pay with no awkward calculations.
