Silence wasn’t golden when I had to run without my music

ZELLA COMPTON: Have you braved West Wittering yet? Is the sand worth it?

Have your say

I ran 6.6 miles on Tuesday – how impressed are you? And yes, that was in one go.

I ran from my house in Copnor to Matt’s work in Waterlooville and I was so thrilled with myself, I literally gave myself a pat on the back.

I downloaded a running app to ensure I wasn’t kidding myself on the distance and even sorted music especially for running to give myself the best chance of completing the distance.

Unfortunately my stupid phone clearly couldn’t handle it because two miles in and the battery died – despite it being fully charged when I left. I had to run the remaining 4.6 miles in silence.

And my reward for all this effort? A swollen knee and a bad back.
