They were just two little stories on the BBC website, side by side. But they were important ones: on the same day both Portsmouth and Southampton football clubs reported their operating profits for the last year.

Southampton’s was much bigger than Pompey’s as they currently dwell in the Premiership.

This Friday marks two years since that famous Pompey High Court case, which removed the final obstacle for the Pompey Supporters’ Trust to take over the club’s ownership.

They were little stories but two timely reminders of how far both clubs have come. The journey, especially for those in charge in PO4, remains a long one, but look how far we’ve come. And if Saints can do it, Pompey can do it better.
