Have your say

It’s great news that our second aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales, currently under construction, will enter service in Portsmouth and not be mothballed upon completion.

All we’re waiting for now is the news that Illustrious will remain in Portsmouth and join the Mary Rose, Victory and Warrior in the Historic Dockyard.

Surely there’s no other place for this English-built ship, stationed her entire life in our city?

The only competition we should have is from Newcastle, where Lusty was built.

Let’s hope the same mistake isn’t made as with the Royal Yacht Britannia, which, sadly, is now in Edinburgh rather than its old base of Portsmouth.
