Thanks for making the South Run truly a Great occasion

COMMENT: Funding PTSD programme could end up saving money

Have your say

So it is done, it is finished.

I have managed to run 36.2 miles in six weeks, taking on my first (and second) half marathons and the wonderful Great South Run yesterday.

No need any more to run in the 6am drizzle. Not for me the egg-and-protein-shake (let’s not mention the added biscuits) diet.

Others will have spoken in today’s paper about the evil weather, so all I’ll add is my own thanks to the organisers, Nova International, and the hundreds of volunteers who stood around in the weather to help us runners get to the finish line despite us facing what felt like a hurricane in the last two miles.

Thanks, too, to all those who donated to my fund for The Rowans Hospice – we’ve got £600 with more to come in! Thank you!
