I’ve been on this planet a fair few years now, but there are plenty of things that still puzzle me.

Why, for instance, do you never see BMW drivers indicate? Surely such basic equipment is fitted as standard on all its models, yet how often do people behind the wheel of Beemers actually use them?

And here’s another thing. There’s so much technology packed into the average car these days, from cruise control to parking sensors and cameras that let you see all round when reversing or parking.

How come the boffins have yet to come up with a gizmo that stops people from tailgating at 70 miles an hour?

Somebody got so close to me the other day I thought he wanted to get in the back. And yes, it was a certain car made in Germany.
