The only thing I ever caught from gran’s apron was love

COMMENT: All agencies must to held to account for Anne Savidge’s tragic death

Have your say

For you nippers who don’t know what an apron is, let me explain.

Gran wore it to protect her dress. But it also served for removing hot pans from the oven and dusting furniture before expected guests arrived.

It came in useful too for drying children’s tears, even for cleaning out dirty ears.

When company did come, it was the ideal hiding place for shy children.

Of course, nowadays some people would have you think it was full of all sorts of germs.

But the only thing I ever caught from my gran’s apron was... love.
