The poor people of Gloucestershire have a heavy cross to bear.
Their price for living in chocolate-box pretty villages is an influx of celebrities.
And when those celebrities decide to party, everyone else has to accept whatever inconveniences that may bring.
In the cases of Kate Moss and Lily Allen, their respective weddings have meant the local police force has been involved in road closures.
If I’d decided to tie the knot in Gloucestershire – where my parents now live – would the council have closed a road so that my husband’s large extended family could be untroubled by traffic? Would they heck.
I can’t see a single reason why the police and county council should have decided these ‘special’ residents were worthy of such care.
