The events to commemorate Armistice Day were particularly poignant this year, being the 100th since the beginning of the First World War.
Then there was magnificent and moving display of ceramic poppies around the Tower of London.
But the importance of the centenary was, depressingly, missed by many of the younger generation.
Some didn’t even know what the poppies signified!
Twitter was awash with One Direction fans posting such things as ‘why are they wearing little red flowers?’
How are these kids being brought up? Do their parents not educate them about the importance of such events?
Things like this make me want to get into a spaceship and live on the moon. The world is done for.
