As very few people are set to pop into the polling stations today and register their vote, many parents are cursing the closure of all the schools being used and the resulting childcare headaches.
I have to say that I wonder if this is the right time to be choosing new police and crime commissioners.
What are we really voting for? Has the government done enough to explain?
It wants to cut 5,800 frontline officers by 2015 to save money. But this election is reportedly costing £100m, enough to keep 3,000 officers on the beat.
Surely common sense suggests we should have postponed this election until a time when we could actually afford it.
