I’m not one of those people who always has to have the latest gadget, but I’m no technophobe.

So although my phone is what they call ‘second generation’, it’s certainly no antique.

Yet people I know with iPhones see me using my mobile and react as if it’s something out of the ark.

Well now I have the last laugh. Because research has shown that phones like mine are often better for making calls than their much more sophisticated ‘smartphone’ cousins.

Communication regulator Ofcom said they were more reliable, particularly in rural areas, because they used less complicated technology.

So there you have it. Gizmos are great, but if you want to actually make a call then simple is best.
