Iguess we all have a ‘bucket list’ of those things we want to achieve before we go to the pearly gates in the sky.
One of my dreams has always been to report from the Oscars. Now you might think that there are more important things in life, but you can’t help who you are and that’s always been big deal for me.
Well, it’s a dream no more. I can finally tick this one off the list as I’m ecstatic to reveal that I, Cheryl from Portsmouth, am off to the Oscars in LA, baby!
Whoop, whoop. Clearly, I am elated by this – and who wouldn’t be? It’s going to be a weekend full of glitz, glamour, celebrities and free gift goody bags. What’s not to love?
That doesn’t mean there won’t be an enormous amount of work to do. But I just can’t wait.
As with everything in the media, it’s all very last-minute. This trip has quite literally happened overnight. The TV production company I worked for last year as both producer and presenter have asked me to go and it would be rude to say no so I happily accepted. With bells on.
By the time you read this I will have spent a day in LA. I’ve been twice before, so I know what to expect.
But what I’m not sure about are all the Oscar-related events and parties I’ll be covering.
Oh sure, I’ve done loads of them over here. But LA during Oscars weekend? I’m pretty certain it won’t be anything like attending polo in Essex and interviewing the stars of TOWIE – not that there was anything wrong with that.
I got to meet Mr Peter Andre, AKA The Love Of My Life, that day. But in LA I may get to say hello to some big Hollywood names. Who knows?
I’m going to some seriously cool events, but the problem at the moment is that I haven’t got the foggiest idea what to wear.
What I don’t want to do is come across as a fish out of water. I need to blend in and look like I belong – even if I don’t feel that way.
Whatever happens, I’m definitely going to lap it all up. If nothing else, come next week when I’m back in Pompey I can say ‘Yep, I’ve been to LA and yep, I presented from the Oscars’.
I’ve got the pen ready to tick it off my ‘bucket list’.
