French motorways are fantastic and I’m always raving about them.
Would I happily pay a toll on UK motorways for smooth surfaces and only occasional queueing? Yes I would.
Being in a left-hand drive car in France does cause some problems though.
Reaching across to pay those tolls is nigh-on impossible in today’s large and wide cars, so driving to drop my brother-in-laws off at Nice Airport did require the assistance of my mother-in-law.
The other downside of those tolls comes when a car park ticket is accidentally inserted instead of the toll ticket.
A long line of angry, horn-sounding Frenchmen behind left me in no doubt about what they thought!
