Time for Santa to ditch that red suit and go back to green

VERITY LUSH: Green shoots of recovery sprouting in northern Portsmouth

Have your say

I saw a green and white Santa Claus this week. How fantastic.

He looked great, had the same big bushy beard and cheery smile and all that – and he was giving out chocolates.

It was refreshing to see as we’re all so indoctrinated into expecting the red and white Santa that it takes something like a green one to stir things up.

The red and white image, I believe, is linked to Coca-Cola and its marketing back in the day. The company decided that red looked better.

So it seems only right that we should return to the colour worn by the big man back in Victorian times.

As we were at a Christmas festival being held on a farm, I guess it was all to do with the green movement. But I’m right behind it.
