Unmistakable whiff of BBQs starts to fill the summer air

Child refugees: more cash is needed from the government

COMMENT: Government needs to dig deep to find extra cash

Have your say

As we gently glide past the longest day, the unmistakable whiff of barbecues fills the air.

The great British BBQ menu is unique.

Cindered Sausages; burnt so intensely that a decent gust of wind would see the carbonised morsel disappear in a cloud of pork.

Questionable Chicken; the question being, will you still be alive in the morning?

Traditionally the chicken should be blacker than bitumen on the outside, yet pink and slightly weepy on the inside.

Dad’s World Famous Floor Burger; it’s only been on the floor twice (once partially stepped on) and fallen through the grill once. But it’s okay, Dad wiping it with a tea-towel revives the freshness.
