I was shocked to read about a 90-year-old man falling victim to distraction burglars in Leigh Park.
Apparently a conman claiming to be from the water board said he needed to check the supply.
While the elderly man was occupied, a second man went upstairs and searched the bedrooms for anything that might be of value.
How low can you get? Fortunately nothing was taken, but it shows that all of us – particularly the elderly – must be on our guard against conmen who may try to get into our homes.
If the police ever catch up with this callous pair, they should be dealt with severely.
I have a suggestion. Bearing in mind where the conman claimed to be from, what about a spot of water boarding?
