Folks, I am quite prepared to complain about poor service in shops, so I’m loving the new Channel 4 series Mary Portas – Secret Shopper.
Last week, Mary was on a mission to get High Street shops to offer better customer service.
A few years ago I was in a long queue at the cashiers desk in a bank in Portsmouth’s Commercial Road. After seven minutes of standing there, my Latin temperament kicked in and off I went on one, on the spot, LOUDLY.
‘The service in this bank is disgusting, where’s the manager?’ I said.
With the backing of the queue I demanded better service. When I returned to the bank the following week, extra staff were going along the queue offering assistance. Result.
The message is simple. You don’t have to put up with bad service.
