Wedding dresses were more like life-sized loo roll covers

Still reaching for the dream of a land fit for heroes

Have your say

Channel Four’s My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding captivated me from the very first episode, which looked at weddings and communions.

I had no idea that gypsies and travellers had such strong ethical and moral codes (no sex before marriage, no females to go out alone etc).

It seems very at odds with what I had perceived and judged to be the gypsy way of life. But I’m more than happy to accept the documentary makers’ assertions as I’ve never had the opportunity to discover more about these fascinating people for myself.

One thing though.

I’m really not sure about the wedding dresses.

To my mind they were more like life-sized loo roll covers than princess outfits.

But each to their own.
