Who gets the car park fee is as important as the charges

Have your say

To the credit of the QA hospital’s excellent blood testing staff, they once got me in and out – minus the necessary amount of the red stuff – within five minutes.

But I would have endured 20 minutes more in a waiting room to justify the extortionate £1.60 parking fee that was waiting for me.

That’s the minimum you’ll pay if you park at the QA. Bit of a slap in the face when you consider no-one wants to be there in the first place.

Now hospitals up and down the country have put up their prices, prompting patient groups to hit out at this ‘tax of the sick’.

Luckily, I can spare the occasional £1.60 fee and it saves me time to drive.

But the fact that our hospital gets none of the car park revenue that’s raised is a wrong that needs righting.
