Why Macca can eclipse the X Factor in Christmas sales

COMMENT: The return of good weather shouldn’t bring dread

Forget Matt Cardle, check out Alan McLoughlin before spending your hard-earned pennies this Christmas.

The X Factor winner is sure to get to number one but I reckon my old Pompey room-mate shouldn't be underestimated.

Macca has already performed on a number-one single. Well it was top of the charts in the Republic of Ireland, anyway.

Macca was part of the Eire squad which released a song for the 1994 World Cup in America. It was called Watch Your House For Ireland.

You can find it on YouTube if you are that desperate to hear it. Be warned, though – it's awful.

Having roomed with him for many years, I've heard him in the shower plenty of times while he was frothing up the Imperial Leather and putting on the Wash & Go.

It normally meant turning the telly up to drown him out.

Anyhow, have a listen for yourself at youtube.com/watch?v=cBhzj1g-PBM
