SLIMMERS from Portchester are now relaxing after their charity walk to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
The women and men, who are all members of the Portchester Slimming World group, are supporting Cancer Research UK for 2013.
Slimming World and Cancer Research UK have teamed up to help people live healthier lives and to raise awareness of a charity which helps so many.
The Portchester group’s walk took place from Portchester Parish Hall on Saturday, August 17.
The group’s members chose to walk from the Parish Hall down to the castle and along the shoreline and back – and everyone got involved, family friends, kids and even a few fun-loving dogs.
I run two of Portchester’s Slimming World groups and we meet every Tuesday at both the Parish Hall and the Methodist Hall.
I was so proud everybody made such an effort and that they were all in high spirits.
It’s a great reason for all of us to get active and to do as much or as little as we can – and it’s all for a good cause!
When you’re overweight you can struggle with doing any exercise, so it can be daunting to take the first steps to becoming more active – but it’s definitely worth it.
The key is to start small and find something that you enjoy. There’s no rule that says being active has to involve a gym or running shorts, it can be as simple as walking to collect the children from school or hitting the dance floor on a night out. It all adds up to body magic, and is good for weight loss.
