TWO pals who spent 24 hours in a life raft raised more than £1,000 for a service charity and a school.

Petty Officer Airman Ben Hall and Leading Airman Ashley Senior sat overnight in the life raft secured to the Gosport Ferry pontoon.

The two sailors, based at HMS Sultan, in Gosport, raised £1,023 for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity and Bembridge Primary School. Colleagues from the base ran a street collection.
