SWIMMERS from an aerospace company have braved the Solent to raise money for charity.

Matt Price, pictured right, and Gary Solly, who work for Titchfield-based firm Eaton, swam from Ryde Sands on The Isle of Wight to Stokes Bay Sailing Club in Gosport.

Easton Aerospace raised £5,478 for the Rainbow Centre children’s charity in Fareham for the effort, which was part of a larger charity swim.

Rainbow Centre corporate fundraiser Emma Bazeley said: ‘We are so grateful to everyone who took on such an epic swim to raise funds for the centre.

‘It is humbling to see people putting themselves through such an extreme challenge to support people in their local community.’ During the 3.3-mile swim, the team had to navigate past Isle of Wight Ferries and container ships, together with yachts and dinghies enjoying morning sailing.

The swim was postponed by a day, as sea conditions were far too rough on the original date.
