AN ELDERLY woman had to be rescued from her home this morning after a fire broke out upstairs.

Firefighters were called to the semi-detached home in Moody Road in Stubbington at 8.03am, when the woman’s son raised the alarm.

Two units from Fareham and one from Gosport fire station attended the scene.

An 86-year-old woman and a 64-year-old man were taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment for smoke inhalation.

It is not yet known what caused the fire or the extent of the damage.
