Hundreds of people attended the celebrations of the first birthday of Somers Town Central.

The building, known locally as the Hub, hosted an afternoon of fun-filled activities including a silent disco, arts and crafts, smoothie bike, bouncy castle and a bungee run as well as Pompey in the Community holding football and street dance sessions.

Visitors enjoyed taster sessions of what the Hub offers, including indoor bowls, bingo, storytelling and the launch of the summer reading challenge.

Portsmouth City Council’s property service worked closely with Somers Town Community Centre, Pompey in the Community and Somers Town Adventure Playground to deliver an action-packed day of activities for the whole community to enjoy.

Somers Town resident, Cara Paddon said: ‘I use the Hub a lot and it’s great for the community, for kids and parents to get together.’
