A MAN had to be rescued from his car after it flipped on to its side.

Witnesses saw the accident and rushed to help free the male driver.

The car had been involved in a collision with another vehicle, in Gosport Road, at the Salterns Lane junction in Fareham, at 5.45pm tonight.

The emergency services – including Fareham firefighters – attended.

Passer-by Stu Davies, from Gosport, was on his way home when he saw the crash and rushed to the man’s aid, while a woman looked after his young son.

He said: ‘I want to say thank you to the lady that looked after Harry by the roadside while I was helping.’

The road was closed, but it was cleared and reopened by 6.30pm.
