WALKERS, cyclists and horse-riders will be able to experience the East Hampshire countryside at the opening of the newest section of the Shipwrights Way.

When completed, the long-distance path will run through the heart of East Hampshire, across the South Downs National Park to Hayling Island and finish at Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard.

Damian Hinds MP will open the new sections between Liphook and Portsmouth at 10am on March 24 at the picnic area in Liss.

There will be an information fair from 9am to 11.30am with information from East Hampshire District Council, the county council, The Forestry Commission and South Downs National Park Authority, along with bike registration and crime prevention advice from Hampshire Constabulary.
