From Tai Chi to horseriding, tap dancing and golf Lisa Rowland is planning to squeeze in 40 different sports and activities in the 40 days before her 40th birthday.
Lisa came up with the madcap challenge to mark her birthday, and in doing so hopes to raise hundreds of pounds for a pair of charities close to her heart.
The 39-year-old, from Hunts Pond Road in Titchfield Common, said: ‘I wouldn’t consider myself very sporty, I used to do aerobics, but that’s about it, and I wanted to do something challenging.
I thought about doing a triathlon at first, but couldn’t find anyone who wanted to do all three sports with me, so then I came up with this idea.
‘I wanted to complete it in time for my 40th birthday at the end of the month so it makes it more of a celebration.
‘I’m halfway now, and horse riding was pretty scary, but ice skating was fun.
‘I also went to Fratton Park on Boxing Day. I know one of the physios and he helped arrange for me to have a kick around with the mascot before the match.
‘I’ve told my friends not to give me presents, I want people to support me in this instead.’
The mum-of-three is raising money for Lioness Cubs Home, an orphanage in Kenya and Macmillan Cancer Support.
‘Kerry Taylor, a friend of mine went to Kenya on holiday a few years ago and came across the orphanage.
‘Since then she has become a trustee and raises money to keep the 16 children there looked after.
‘With three children myself, it has been great for my kids to see other kids of their ages in another country when they have so much here.
‘It’s a small enough charity to be able to see that you’re making a difference.
‘And I am raising money for Macmillan as a close friend and colleague of mine, Adel Smith was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
‘I asked her who had been most helpful, and she said Macmillan had been fantastic.’
