RESIDENTS can have their say on plans for a £7m leisure centre and swimming pool in Sarisbury Green as plans go on display.

The centre, on the old Coldeast Hospital site off Barnes Lane, will be designed and built by Balfour Beatty, which built the Aquatic Centre for the 2012 London Olympics. It is due to open in 2016.

It will include a 25m pool with six swimming lanes, a learner pool, a gym with 100 pieces of equipment, an exercise room and dance studio,.

Two football pitches, a play area and a multi-use games area for older children will be created.

The plans contains provision of allotments and a cemetery.

There is an area of land on the site with woodlands, meadows, a pond and an orchard, which will be managed for nature conservation for the local community to enjoy.

Plans can be viewed at Victory Hall, Warsash, from 1pm to 8pm on Tuesday, at Brookfield Community School, Brook Lane, from 1pm to 8.30pm on Thursday and at the Western Wards Community Action Team meeting at Sarisbury Green Community Centre from 7pm to 8.30pm on November 7.
