Pupils from a school in Petersfield have won national English competition prizes.

Rory McIntyre, from Ditcham Park School, has reached the finals of the ‘Wicked Young Writers’ competition – a new venture given the seal of approval by the Duchess of Cornwall and Michael Morpurgo.

He will attend a celebratory event in London alongside 20 other finalists.

Meanwhile Kit O’Loughlin lifted the Favonius Award for essay writing in the 14 to 16 years category.

Schoolmate Madeline Walker-Moffit came first in the intermediate sector for 11 to 13 years.

The annual national competition is hosted by the Independent Schools Association (ISA) and independent schools across the country take part.
