PORTSMOUTH’S first-ever air festival will be an ‘I was there’ moment, organisers have declared.

Preparations for the huge weekend event in Southsea Common this summer are moving forward, with a range of modern and vintage aircraft already confirmed.

The world-famous RAF Red Arrows will be the stars of the show during a day of displays on Saturday, August 18.

Organisers said at a press conference this afternoon that joining the world-famous air formation team will be an RAF parachute display team, the Breitling Wingwalkers, the RAF Tucano display team and a range of vintage aircraft.

The free event is set to attract 50,000 people to the seafront in a bid to raise £250,000 for charities including the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity.
