Andy Murray wishes Stubbington 100-year-old a happy birthday
Thanks to the care staff from Right At Home Solent, who have cared for Iris at home during the pandemic, Iris had a birthday bash to remember when her caregivers, friends and family surprised her outside her flat with balloons, cakes, flowers and a group Happy Birthday because sadly her wish of a big party wasn’t possible.
Born on July 29, 1920, and raised in Gloucestershire and Bristol, Iris later married Ronald Fischer and the couple moved to Stubbington in 1980 with their three children. Her son and daughter, Jason and Angela, visit regularly and hosted a garden party for Iris at the weekend.

Hide AdAs Iris is an avid tennis and snooker fan, the team at Right at Home managed to get birthday messages from top tennis and snooker stars – including Andy and Jamie Murray, Stephen Hendry and John Higgins – in a video message.
Upon watching the video from the tennis stars, Iris smiled and says: ‘I used to play tennis but not to that standard!’
Iris says her secret to reaching 100 is leading a healthy lifestyle. She adds: ‘No smoking and no drinking, and you’ll live to be 100! I occasionally have a drink but a little drop only.’
