HELPING refugees stuck in camps on the borders of war-torn Syria is the aim of a fundraising appeal being planned for Saturday.

Members of Cosham Rotary Club will be collecting donations outside Tesco in Cosham High Street from 10am to 4pm to raise money for the charity ShelterBox, which provides temporary accommodation for refugees.

Fundraising chairman David Long said: ‘This isn’t for the refugees coming over here, it’s for the
displaced people in camps over there.

‘For £62 we can supply five blankets, three mattresses and a couple of tarpaulins to help keep them dry through
winter.

‘A lot of families are exposed to very icy conditions there at the moment so any help we can give them would be very much appreciated.’
