Parents praise nursing teams who cared for Crookhorn teenager who died of cancer

CHIEF Petty Officer Ian Fleming crossed the finish line to shouts and cheers after completing the course in a 200lb diving suit.

The 48-year-old, who serves at Southern Diving Unit 2 on Horsea Island, got special permission to complete the course in three days – four miles Friday, five miles Saturday and one mile yesterday – where fellow servicemen caught up with him for the home straight. He said: ‘It was hard work – my body’s hurting.
